Weekly Tip - Safe & Free "Sharps" Disposal for Residents

The City of Arcadia offers a free sharps disposal program to residents.  You should be aware that it is illegal to dispose of hypodermic needles, lancets, syringes, and similar medical instruments known as "sharps" in your household trash.  Not only is it illegal to dispose of these items improperly but it poses a health and safety hazard to the community.

Free Sharps Waste Kits can be obtained by residents by calling Arcadia Public Works at (626) 256-6554.  You will be required to prove residency by means of a valid State-issued identification card or a utility bill.  The kits are a convenient way to dispose of sharps, providing you with a postage-paid shipping box that when filled is sent via US Mail to a processing center for destruction.  If you have any questions, please call the number listed above.  This program is available for residents only and not for commercial use.
