Unlicensed Driver Leads Police on Early Morning Chase

At about 1:43 am this morning, a 38 year-old unlicensed female from West Covina led Arcadia Police Officers on a high speed chase on several local freeways.  An Officer attempted to stop the driver on Colorado Place west of San Rafael Road for swerving in the lanes.  The driver sped off in a Dodge Caravan across Colorado Street, failing to yield to the police unit lights and siren.  The Caravan then entered the 210 freeway at Rosemead Boulevard.  APD units continued to pursue the Caravan with speeds on the freeway in excess of 100 mph.  APD units requested assistance from the California Highway Patrol and CHP units took over the pursuit on the 10 freeway in West Covina.  The Caravan exited the freeway a short time later and ultimately stopped in an apartment complex driveway located in the 700 block of North Sunset Avenue, West Covina.  The driver was taken into custody without incident and was later booked at APD on felony evading charges.  The driver had been drinking but was not found to be legally DUI.
