A witness saw a male subject spray painting large letters, defacing the railroad bridge at Huntington Drive and Second Avenue at about 12:30 am Sunday morning, February 28, 2010. The witness called APD and provided a good description of the vandal. Officers detained Matthew Garrovillas, an 18 year old from Pasadena, riding his bicycle at Colorado Street and Michillinda Avenue. Garrovillas was identified by the witness and was arrested. Garrovillas was booked at APD on felony vandalism charges. The graffiti had been painted on both the outer and inner walls of the railroad bridge.
