Attempted Murder Arrest at Arcadia Home

Date / Time of Press Release:  November 11, 2015 – 7:30 A.M.

On Wednesday November 10, 2015, at about 10:33 PM, Arcadia Police officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of South Second Avenue. The call was regarding a possible fight amongst the residents of the home, and the suspect was armed with a knife. Officers determined the suspect was holding an elderly woman hostage inside the residence. The suspect eventually walked outside, and was taken into custody without incident. Officers went inside, and found the victim suffering from lacerations that were not life-threatening. Arcadia Fire Department Paramedics provided immediate medical aid, and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.

The suspect was identified as Michael James Burbank, a 56-year-old resident of Arcadia. Burbank was charged with violations of PC 664/187(a) – Attempted Murder, PC 207(a) – Kidnapping, PC 210.5 – Taking a Hostage, PC 236 – False Imprisonment, and PC 368(b)(1) – Elder Abuse. Burbank was booked at the Arcadia Police Department and transferred to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for housing. Burbank’s bail is $500,000, and his County Booking Number is 4497739.
