Celebrate Volunteerism!

We are celebrating National Volunteer Week 2012 this week, April 15-21, 2012. Arcadia has long promoted volunteer service and the Arcadia Police Department formally began accepting volunteers in 1992, after forming the Volunteers Services Section.  APD currently has in excess of 100 volunteers who donate their time for the betterment of the community and the police department.

The list of volunteer activity at APD is filled with a variety of services such as: translators, amateur radio operators, clerical, administrative, and investigative support, chaplains, police explorers, and other duties.  The majority of volunteers dedicate their time behind the scenes. Two specialized units of volunteers who are very visible in the community include the Arcadia Mounted Enforcement Team (AMET) and the Volunteers in Patrol Support (VIPS).

Please join us this week in saying a hearty "thank you" to those who dedicate themselves to our community and to your Arcadia Police Department.

For more information on our Volunteer Services Section, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Leon Solorio, at (626) 574-5173.
