Weekly Tip - Be Careful Who You Friend!

This tip is adopted from a great informational post on the Oh My Gov Blog, written by Jack B. Winn.

"Social media accounted for a majority of personal data stolen or obtained through false pretenses.  According to Javelin Research, Google+, LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook users were the most at risk."

"Smartphone users were also at higher risk. Owners of iPhones and Androids were 33 percent more likely to be victims of fraud compared to the general population.  Behavior seemed to be at fault."

The post contains some great insight about our sharing of personal information through social media.  Criminals may take advantage of the info we have volunteered online, free for the taking.  This is a great reminder about sharing smartly, while at the same time, still engaging and participating in social media.  Remember to "Be careful who you friend!"
