Wall of Honor and Department Awards

For many years, plaques with the names of those recognized with Department Awards were placed inside a dusty display case or found on a wall in various places within our building. In an effort to highlight the dedicated, professional, and courageous work men and women of the Arcadia Police Department have been doing for nearly a century, newly designed plaques have been prominently placed on the atrium wall inside the Department. Those members of the Department who have been recognized over the years, and in the future, will have their names mounted on the plaques. Our Department Awards include: The Medal of Valor, The Medal of Distinction, The Medal of Merit, and The Life Saving Award. A recent addition to the Department Awards is The Purple Heart, acknowledging those who have been seriously injured during the course of their duties. Newly designed plaques for Officer of the Year and Civilian of the Year will be mounted soon.

The APD atrium is now host to photos of past Chiefs of Police, photos documenting a Century of Service, our Department Awards, and a memorial honoring Officer Albert E. Matthies, the only member of APD to have been killed in the line of duty.
