Weekly Tip - See the Glass Half Full

Optimism can be a topic for another day. Today, we are talking about preparedness.

How often do you find yourself running on fumes? Or, perhaps you depend on the "dummy" light to alert you there are only 25 or 10 miles left to empty in your car. You should always make an effort to keep your gas tanks filled to no less than 1/4 tank. Better yet, we teach young officers to not let a unit go less than 1/2 a tankful of gas. There are many "what if" scenarios, but we do quite often see power outages here in Southern California. Granted, gas stations are readily available in our area, but should we experience a significant earthquake, power and fuel may not be immediately available.

Plan ahead, be proactive, and try to keep your glass, in this case the fuel tank, half full.
