Up in Smoke?

Ever wonder what happens to marijuana and other drugs seized in cases? After cases have been adjudicated or Detectives have obtained court orders to destroy the items, we will work with local trash facilities to safely, and properly dispose of the drugs.

The majority is burned at the facility inside high heat burners with filtering, in order to destroy the property, but not release it into the air. Detectives will escort the items, still in police custody, and will place them inside the facility, witnessing the property destruction as it goes up in "smoke."

APD disposed of a truckload full of marijuana and other drugs, in excess of 1,000 pounds, last week. Here are a couple of pics of the event.
