Halloween Safety Tips
The Arcadia Police Department wants everyone to have a fun, but safe Halloween. Here are some simple tips to make your Halloween fun and safe:
Plan your route ahead of time.
Trick or treat in familiar neighborhoods.
Carry a flashlight with new batteries after dark.
Always trick or treat in groups with an adult.
Stay on sidewalks, use crosswalks, and remember to walk, not run.
Walk with your head up and be aware of your surroundings.
Only visit well lit houses.
Don’t enter any houses unless you know the people.
Don’t approach unfamiliar pets and animals.
Don’t cut across yards and stay out of backyards.
Always watch for cars backing up or turning.
Don’t eat any candy until it has been inspected by an adult.
Avoid candy that is homemade, has puncture holes, has loose wrappers or is unwrapped.
Wear a costume that is visible to others, light colored, or reflective.
If a mask is worn, make sure it has large enough eye holes to see out of. Also, consider removing the mask before crossing or entering the street.
Halloween 2014 falls on a Friday so we also want to remind drivers that it is never safe to drink and drive, but especially on Halloween night. There will be a lot of little ghosts and ghouls out looking for Trick-or-Treats. We hope these tips will help everyone have a safe and fun night.
